Carolina Beach and Kure Beach pier

The condo has a nice balcony overlooking the beach and ocean. It's a nice place to relax and greet the morning.

Of course we're here for the beach, so we followed the path from the condo to the beach to spend the morning playing in the water. There were some good sets of waves. We spent the morning trying to catch and ride the waves either with the boogie boards or by body surfing. When getting out of the water for a break, the force was strong in the shallow water at the edge of the shore, and the incoming waves in the shifting pebble sand about knocked you over when getting out of the water.

After lunch, we rested and had a good game of monopoly. One by one we got bankrupt and fell out of the game, until by the end, Dan's dad Bob had hotels on almost all the properties on the board and won the game. I should have snapped a photo of the land baron with all his holdings... maybe if we play again tomorrow.

We went out for pizza for dinner in Wilmington. When we got to the place with the best reviews, we were surprised to see they were take out only -- they even had a drive-thru, but no dining room! So we settled for our second choice. It was good -- Brooklyn Pizza -- and we got enough to take home for lunch tomorrow.

After dropping off the leftovers, we drove down to Kure beach and walked along the boardwalk and pier.

After dark, we found 5 more little crabs while walking with flashlights along the beach. We were surprised to see and hear a few big fireworks in the distance near the ferris wheel we passed while driving to Wilmington earlier.
